About Cobblers Cottage
An informal cottage garden with expansive views across the Lower Chedworth valley, nurtured by the current owners for 30 years. Traditional Cotswold plants and herbs hardy to the Oolitic limestone alkaline soil surround the old cottage and Cobblers Workshop; roses, peonies, salvias and Stachys byzantine abound. Honeysuckle cascades over fences and field walls. The lower wild garden provides shade and diverse habitats, with carpets of spring bulbs giving way to wild flower areas amongst fruit trees.
Lower Bliss garden
A garden maturing with professional design and planting over the last five years, characterised by a dramatic Avenue of thalictrum, roses, peonies, foeniculum and Bearded Iris against the backdrop of high Cotswold walls, a running stream captured into a lily tank and rill before cascading into a Pickery of vegetables and cutting beds, and western-facing seating areas capturing the evening sun. The informal lower areas contain a copse of mature trees, gently landscaped terracing with wild flower banks sloping into the valley bottom.
