About Cornfield Cottage
The sunny seating area is a bordered by a lavender hedge and standard roses, and climbing roses, honeysuckle and Jasmine tumble over a beech hedge. A sculpture – ‘Chilternscape’ -features the local Chiltern Hills.
The arch leads into the paddock, where a rose swag planted with a variety of climbing and rambling roses borders a small lawn. Mulberry, plum, quince and apple trees are planted in the small orchard. Soft fruit and vines border the edge of the paddock.
Wild flower beds and no mow areas attract a range of insect life; butterflies, damsel and dragonflies, honey bees and bumbles adore feeding on the pollen.
The wooded area is reached by steps that lead down to a carpet of bluebells in the Spring, and is home to badger setts.
