East Court

A garden on 2 levels. The upper around the 1806 house (not open) is traditionally styled with formal beds and lawns and 3 majestic purple beech trees some 200 yrs old. The in-house designed 2½ acre lower garden is in complete contrast. Winding brick paths, swathes of herbaceous plantings towered over by arching Datisca, Miscanthus and Paulownia. An experimental south facing walled area enjoys exciting exotic and unusual tender perennials and annuals. The new pond has attracted a wide range of aquatic wildlife.

About East Court

The garden is split into two contrasting parts divided by the drive and a change of level.
The 2.5 acre lower garden has no lawns and any formality is limited to the central axis which aligns with the front of the house.
The garden is always evolving with new features planned for the future and ongoing experiments with new plants.
A vegetable growing area is a recent new addition.
We have designed it all ourselves and are enthusiastic about the garden and its ongoing development so come and visit us and share some of our excitement.
