About Fairwinds

Country garden with a rich variety of planting styles which has been used by Gardeners World magazine for general photo shoots and wildlife DVDs. We are opening later this year, hoping for even more flowers for you to enjoy. This early opening allows you to see the spring bulbs and flowers and the structure of the garden. Much of the hard landscaping and some of the ornaments and furniture makes use of recycled materials. Sculpture addicts may notice an enthusiasm for dragons.

In the front garden the planting has been updated to introduce more variety and colour. Side entrance leads to the garden which is divided into three main areas only visible as you move into each section.
The first area is our open and spacious flower garden, with large mixed borders and an ornamental greenhouse surrounding the lawn and a large wildflower meadow. The Long Border West (along black fence) progresses from pastel colours at the shed end to yellows and blues by the pergola. The planting of the bed opposite borrows from the planting style of Penelope Hobhouse with pink, blue and white flowers.
The two island beds are at their best in full summer when filled with hot reds, yellows and orange flowers. Tall plants and the pergola obscure the Woodland Garden beyond. Here the emphasis is on a more naturalistic approach with log edging to the paths and shade loving plants. A place to sit and relax with a cool drink. This area includes bug houses and our hen house.
A rustic fence, buried under a creamy froth of Rosa Rambling Rector in May/June, separates the woodland from the working area of the garden. Raised beds contain mostly vegetables and this year we have started a cutting flower garden. The pond and shed area is currently being re-modelled.

Free refills of tea/coffee Soya milk available. Some green/fruit teas and decaf on request. Vegan cake (limited amount available).

Happy insects in bee house, bug houses, log piles and bantam hens. Newts in pond. There be dragons a plenty.
