About Gable House
Gardened by the current owners for the last 8 years, this garden aims to introduce a diverse and robust selection of plants in deep expansive borders. Planting is arranged in broad colour themes whilst also having a keen eye on successional planting for year round colour. The overall theme is to have abundant summer perennial colour within a formal winter structure.
In May and June there are many climbing roses and the large white wisteria is a particular feature. Later in the year the garden displays a prairie feel with swaying grasses and late summer perennials. Although only just under an acre, areas are given up to particular features. These include a wildlife pond, a bee hive, a woodland walk, a cutting garden and exotic planting. All plants are chosen to withstand changing climate conditions as much as possible and great efforts to increase wildlife populations are made. Whilst walled, and marginally protected, the garden is also in a valley with a slight frost pocket.
Please park in the High Street as Church Lane can get congested. Disabled drop off is available.
