Organic woodland garden of international renown, Greencombe stretches along a sheltered hillside and offers outstanding views over Porlock Bay. Moss-covered paths meander through a collection of ornamental plants that flourish beneath a canopy of oaks, hollies, conifers and chestnuts. Camellias, rhododendrons, azaleas, lilies, roses, clematis, and hydrangeas blossom among 4 National Collections.

About Greencombe Gardens

Greencombe is open from April through July. Check www.greencombe.org for current days and dates. Greencombe’s National Collections are Erythronium (small mountain-lilies), Vaccinium, ‘whortleberries worldwide’; Gaultheria, ‘whortleberries for bears’; and Polystichum, the ‘thumbs-up’ fern. For 50 years, Greencombe has thrived using organic gardening methods, with a riot of birds and butterflies all around. Compost making and leaf tips on display.

Take A39 to west end of Porlock and turn onto B3225 to Porlock Weir. Drive ½m, turn L at Greencombe Gardens sign. Go up drive; parking signed.
