Highmount

Part of an original Gertrude Jekyll garden with much of the original hard landscaping. There is still some of her original planting with huge box hedges and a vine going over a pergola. The garden is on the side of a very steep hill with steep brick steps that has evolved over the yrs with herbaceous borders and a wilding area.

About Highmount

The garden has been in the same ownership for the last 45 years and has evolved over that time whilst trying to stay within the ethos of Gertrude Jekyll. There are herbaceous borders, a small cutting garden/vegetable garden, an area of lawn left to become wild and rose beds. Over the last few years more emphasis has been put on wildlife, with planting for insects, bees and butterflies. Set on the side of a steep hill it has exceptional views from a covered terrace.
