Lynsted Community Kitchen Garden

½ acre community garden set up and run by local people, who grow organic fruit and vegetables together, sharing all aspects of sowing, growing and harvesting. Use the 'No Dig' approach with soil health, sustainable water management and composting being key elements. We keep bees and are working hard to improve the biodiversity of the garden.

About Lynsted Community Kitchen Garden

Lynsted Community Kitchen Garden (LCKG) started in 2021 – created by the community, for the community. Sustainability is at the core of all that we do. There is an important educational element to the garden too and we have open mornings throughout the year as well as regular visits from local schools. The success of the garden is down to the diverse range of skills that the volunteers bring to the garden – everyone’s input is invaluable. There is a herb wellbeing area, a wildlife meadow and pond, as well as dreams of a small vineyard for ‘community wine’. The garden was awarded a prestigious silver award from the Kent Wildlife Trust in 2023 & 2024. In addition LCKG, is a member of the Royal Horticultural Society’s Community Gardens and of Social Farms and Gardens. Most recently, the community garden joined a working party, run by Bore Place, to develop the Good Food Movement in Kent.
