About Manor House

A large 4 acre garden on a slope with an open view towards the Chilterns. The garden has evolved over the last 20 years as we have cleared overgrown areas and created new borders.

The main spring garden is on the slope which runs down to the top pond with a magnificent copper beech tree underplanted with bulbs and a variety of perennials, ferns and small shrubs. A bog garden is being developed next to the top pond.

The second main bed overlooks the lower pond and is a large mixed border planted with spring flowering shrubs and trees including amelanchiers, magnolias and cercis as well as summer flowering perennials.
Shady areas have mahonias, geraniums and many varieties of narcissus.

The lower pond is left for wildlife and is a haven for ducks, moorhens and other birds. We have now planted a new border beneath two mature acers and in spring there is a succession of daffodils and other bulbs.
