About Manor House
Over three hundred species have been recorded in this fertile and sheltered garden, with its varied environment from hot sunny wall border, through mixed sun and partial shade to densely shaded woodland and fernery. Native trees form much of the backdrop with yew, beech, birch, oak and holly among others, while stunning exotics include monkey puzzle and persian ironwood.
Around the main lawn and in the understorey rhododendrons are at their brilliant best in May, highlighting different areas from week to week. A favourite is always azalea luteum whose scent drifts along Lovers’ Walk.
Many of the trees are hundreds of years old and while some of the layout dates from the early C20, mixed borders have been redesigned since 2019 and are full of colour and contrast, changing by the month.
Cream teas and cakes are provided by our local team, and kids will be pulled towards the giant swings and trampolines while you wander.
