NGS Buzzing Garden

Unique collaboration between the National Garden Scheme North East, Trädgårdsresan, Region Västra Götaland and Gateshead Council. Planted in 2019, it was funded by sponsorship and is a tribute to the importance of international friendship. The Swedish design reflects the landscape of West Sweden, with coast, meadow and woodland areas. Many of the plant species grow wild in Sweden, providing a welcoming vision for visitors and a feast for pollinators. Donate at https://www.justgiving.com/ngs.

About NGS Buzzing Garden

This garden is the product of a strong relationship between the North East of England and West Sweden. The NGS was the inspiration for the Gardens of West Sweden to establish a garden network and raise money to support pollinators such as bees.
It is part of a garden exchange. The Classic English Garden, which opened at Jonsered, West Sweden, in 2017, was designed by an NGS Northumberland/Tyne and Wear Team member, whilst the Buzzing Garden was designed by members of Trädgårdsresan in 2019.
The garden reflects the landscape, lakes and coastline of West Sweden, with forests, bright glades, flowering meadows and heathlands, its rocky coastlines and its old cottage gardens. A favourite place for most Swedes is the countryside. With flowers from spring to autumn, they are havens for bees and other pollinating insects.
The garden has become a favourite place for visitors to Saltwell Park.
