North Cottage

Walk through the vegetables onto mown paths past wild flowers via the pleached limes to the Cottage. Although modest there’s great variety, each part of the garden differs in style and feel but remains cohesive. Difficult to describe so do come and see for yourself. Augmented by pottery and woodwork handmade by us. From the intimacy of the garden explore the orchard, coppice, ponds and smallholding.

About North Cottage

WELCOME to North Cottage. An intriguing visit awaits you. A small garden which has the Tardis effect. It has gradually evolved over the years, and is continually changing. Owners are plant enthusiasts and always find room to shoe-horn in another interesting specimen. Plenty of flowers, fruit and vegetables, some areas are formal, others less so. Garden cleverly segmented; corners to explore, secret hideaways to reveal, sheds and shelters into which to retreat. Pottery and sculpture enhances garden and orchard. Herbaceous borders, fruit trees, vegetables, pond and coppice wood. Pottery and handicraft are all made by owners, (https://northcottagecreations.com/) as are the delicious home-made lunches and teas. On our smallholding are Greyface Dartmoor sheep, ponies and cattle, free range runner ducks and bantams. We are wildlife friendly, with compost and muck heaps for snakes, nest boxes in the woodland, ponds for frogs and newts. The coppice produces firewood, chestnut for hurdles, hazel, willow for weaving, bean poles and raw material for the furniture. Altogether, it feeds us, warms us and delights the spirit, we hope you will enjoy your visit, and find some real pleasure, inspiration and amusement. New to see is a Shepherds Hut for B and B guests, find details on Facebook – Duck House – Tisbury Row. For more craft/smallholding information see Website- North Cottage Creations.
