Pampisford Place

On the site of an old brewery above an acquifer, these first time opening hidden gardens are at the heart of a working family site. Mature trees dominate the initial outlook. Colourful planters line the front lawn, which lead to a recently redesigned walled garden featuring a central fountain and espalier fruit trees. Through a brick archway, the top garden is a haven for wildlife.

About Pampisford Place

In its hey day these grounds had four full time gardeners. Much history is attached to the place, with stories of trees being imported from China in generations past. Today, there remains a programme of tree planting including liquidambars, hazels and silver birch. Bird nesting boxes are placed around in the trees to provide a safe haven for nature throughout the year. The walled garden, bought back to life recently with swirls of box and lavender and enclosed by beautiful planting, provides a pleasant comparison to the wilder parts of the garden.
