About Pinsla Garden

You will be assured of a warm welcome at Pinsla Garden, a hideaway place full of secret paths, unusual plants and a relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy the pretty cottage garden, the shaded areas, and the open meadow. A romantic 1½-acre artist’s garden nestled in wild woodland, it’s peaceful and secluded, and easy to walk around. Dogs (on a lead) are welcome.

Pinsla is warm and sheltered, allowing for a wide range of plants to thrive. On the edges of the woodland Japanese maples show off their delicate, richly coloured leaves. Chusan palms, black bamboo and many types of ferns add to the jungle feel; shade-loving perennials and ground cover carpet the ground. Enjoy the intricately patterned paths and moss-covered granite boulders as you leave the shade and wander towards the sunny flower beds that surround an idyllic C18 cottage. Here a succession of colourful annuals, perennials, bulbs and grasses provides a shimmering display from spring to autumn. Then, for a change of scenery, walk towards the mature beech trees that preside over the wild meadow planting in the stone circle.

Pinsla is a haven for wildlife: birds, bees and butterflies feast on the naturalistic planting, ponds are home to newts, frogs, toads and dragonflies. It’s also full of imaginative garden art and statues, decorative fences, pergolas and pots. Great use is made of recycled and natural materials and there are lots of creative ideas that you could try out at home.
