About Pounds

Pounds is set on a gentle hillside, overlooking a meadow and pond, with views of the Blackdown Hills and beyond. The country cottage gardens are divided into separate areas by flint walls and hedges. A rose and clematis arch leads into a new walled garden has grassy paths with shrubs and trees and late summer hot coloured perennials. A rose arch then leads into the front garden with lawns, herbaceous borders and roses. A slate path takes you through a small acer garden and under a long rose arch to a sheltered sunken garden with swimming pool. This is surrounded with white walls and cool coloured, scented borders. Steps lead up to a traditional ridge and furrow orchard, lined by a long apricot rose hedge. In the orchard, apple, pear, plum combine with ornamental trees. Beyond this is an area of raised beds, with vegetables and flowers for cutting. Check out Regency House nearby which is also often open at the same time.
