About Roseland House
The 1 acre garden wraps around the house creating many different garden spaces and is subdivided by walls and trellises hosting a wide range of climbers. The borders are a mixture of exotic and unusual plants, which rub shoulders with the colourful plants typical of an English summer garden, The two ponds are very different in character and popular with the wildlife which lives here. The Victorian conservatory and greenhouse extend the gardening year and allow the growing of tender plants. Here can be found Bougainvillea and fruiting passion flowers, as well as a large collection of scented leaved and species Pelargoniums. The National Collection of Clematis viticella cultivars are planted around the garden. Also home to the National collection of Lapageria rosea cultivars – plants of these beautiful climbers are housed in their own greenhouse. Those visitors interested in the propagation of plants will also find the insides of the various tunnels and greenhouses that form the specialist climber’s nursery fascinating.
