The Ash

What is now the garden was a field when we moved here in 2021. Work commenced in the October and today the garden is full of shrubs, trees, cutting garden and vegetable patch. This, along with the pond, has brought a great amount wildlife to the garden and is a constant source of joy. The development of the garden has been totally based on no dig principals, which has proved a great success.

About The Ash

This is a large narrow garden, probably 20 metres wide and 130 metres long. From the house there is a more formal type garden which then leads into large, curved, 40m beds either side the lawn, which are filled with shrubs and perennials. From here you move into a more wild area with a fountain and pond and the grass is left to grow for the wildlife. Beyond the pond is a rabbit proof vegetable patch with cutting garden, 40′ polytunnel and fruit cage. The far end of the garden is a large composting area where we try and generate as much compost as possible.
