The Coach House

2 linked gardens of differing character: one laid to lawn with formal hedges of yew, beech and pleached hornbeam, and a small woodland area; the other a sunny courtyard incorporating water features with ponds on two levels, a parterre and a stone lion.

About The Coach House

An established garden that combines two areas with different characters. The larger, formal garden depends on its hedges to create a variety of different settings for a lawn and a wide range of shrubs and herbaceous plants. The aim was to hide one part of the garden from another, ideal for hide-and-seek if you are so-minded but even better as a tranquil place in which to wander. The water in the smaller courtyard garden provides a soothing backdrop to the planting, and is enlivened by some increasingly large fish.
