About Tudor Lodgings
The garden was initially begun in the late 60s with a rough sketch drawn up on the back of an envelope by the late Brenda Colvin. Passed onto the next generation in the early 80s, Tudor Lodgings has become a family home and gently evolved over the years. The soil is very alkaline, in a windy spot and frosts can be heavy.
Hedges and trees have now matured, and the borders are filled with perennials, shrubs and some ornamental grasses. The pond was created in the last decade and is surrounded by a planted wild area. The earthworks which surround two sides of the garden are ‘the finest example in private hands.’
A beehive was introduced in the newly planted orchard and paths have been laid in part to make this generally a more wheelchair friendly garden.
