About Ty Hebron

Work to convert a steeply sloping sheep field full of Bracken, Soft Rush and Dock into a garden began at the start of lockdown in 2020. We had no experience of building or of making a garden from scratch, but we had plenty of energy and time. YouTube videos and much internet research guided us in the construction of our garden building, all of whose doors and windows are reclaimed. We constructed decking to give us some useful flat areas, but our plants have to cope with steep banks (as does the gardener!) The planting is gradually developing and is very much trial and error. I am learning as I go and enjoying the mix of plants gifted by friends and neighbours, acquired from the village plant table and bought wherever I find them. It’s an informal, lived-in garden which we are keen to keep wildlife-friendly, so it will always be a mix of the wild and the cultivated.
