Y Felin Rhyd Hir

Y Felin Rhyd Hir (Melin Bodfel) is a stone built water-powered corn mill. The composite overshot waterwheel, with cast iron shrouds has been fully renovated. It was supplied by a now restored mill pond to the north of the mill, fed from the Afon Rhyd-hir via a 1.7 km long leat. The site has extensive grounds, newly landscaped garden, pond, Victorian style glasshouse, vegetable beds and orchard.

About Y Felin Rhyd Hir

Corn mill, dating back to the 1700s, with a painstakingly restored water wheel and landscaped grounds reflecting the original features of the mill. Over a number of years the owners have carefully restored the ruined buildings and created beautiful grounds. The former mill pond is now a garden and a large new pond has been created near the old orchard, together with a vegetable garden and Victorian style greenhouse. Where the Mill leat formerly ran is now a long walk beside a woodland of native species. A viewing cabin on stilts overlooks a small lake which provides habitat for wild creatures. Riverside path. Good parking for private visits by arrangement. High quality self-catering accommodation.
