About 100 Downham Road
Entrance is by the side door with 4 steps down leading through the tea area into the 75 x 35ft. garden. Brick steps lead up to a paved area and on to a central lawn. To the left is a rock garden, a mature acer and tall cypress with floating seat. Opposite is an iris filled pond with a ‘Monet’ bridge, handmade by the owner who has also constructed a garden swing seat and some seating at the far end from recycled floorboards. Ahead is the dry garden with a pencil pine, cardoons, a lavender hedge and various Mediterranean plants. It is contained by a path featuring a large bug hotel leading to a paved firepit and art exhibition area at the far end. Flower beds abound on all sides.
The open lawn along with the secluded corners have made it a popular spot for concerts, weddings, and all manner of charity events and parties over the years.
