About 17 Mortimer Road

We have been gardening for nearly forty years and have owned seven houses so we are well accustomed to starting new gardens. We even have plants that have travelled with us from Staffordshire to the Isle of Mull, then Llandrindod Wells and now Shropshire. We lived in Madely, Staffordshire for several years and enjoyed opening our garden at Fern Dene with the NGS for seven years so we are delighted to be able re-join the NGS fold here in Shropshire. Our new garden is flatter, sunnier and drier than any we’ve had before allowing us to explore a whole new range of plants.

We are passionate about wildlife, gardening and photography which has led to involvement with various publishing projects including the WildGuides series and the book Wild Mull which Martin co-authored with Stephen Littlewood.

We have embarked on a mission to photograph and identify our garden wildlife. This is proving to be very interesting with over 20 species of bee, 18 butterflies and 10 dragonflies already identified.
