7 Nightingale Close

A good example of a cottage garden with mixed planting. It changes with the seasons and each yr as new plantings are tested. Roses feature through June, perennials and grasses in late summer. There is a steep bank down to a stream with step access and a narrow path along a new streamside walk. Also a bonsai collection and potager vegetable area and wonderful views out across the fields.

About 7 Nightingale Close

This garden has been developed over the past 10 years to become a mixed, cottage garden which looks good in all seasons. In winter, a backbone of evergreen shrubs and colourful stems are joined by early bulbs and Hellebores. Spring is a riot of colour from bulbs, researching different colour schemes each year. Early summer brings the height of the cottage effect with over 50 roses enhanced by perennial planting and Clematis. Late summer sees another riot of colour in the herbaceous borders and the steep bank comes to life with grasses and prairie planting. The Autumn colours are enhanced by the mists over the fields behind. Over the years the owners have worked to overcome the challenges of dry shade, stream planting, deer damage, frost pocket and steep slopes. Creating a family friendly space packed with plants with lots of seating areas to relax and enjoy the garden.
