About 9 Devenish Church Road
A small perennial Garden begun 17 years ago with left over plants from a sale and shrubs from a previous garden. The soil is clay, till and stones, requiring copious amounts of compost, and the removal of overgrown trees before starting. The garden, bordered on two sides by water, is full of bulbs, primulas, perennials and climbers intermingled with roses and shrubs. The aim is successional colour (although this is not always achieved to the extent hoped for). Native fuchia, grown from slips, makes up the front hedge. Raised veg beds provide a glut of summer vegetables and salads. Annuals are grown in a cuttings bed and help to fill spaces when the perennials are over. There are lots of sitting areas and the terraces are filled with small geraniums, peonies, lilies, dahlias as well as a lavender and clematis screen. Gabions separate the terrace and the sloping back garden.
