About Bolham Manor
Bolham Manor
Pam and Butch Barnsdale have worked tirelessly over the years to create a haven of tranquillity surrounding this elegant 19th century manor house, close to the town of Retford.
As you enter the garden you are greeted in February by drifts of snowdrops, followed in spring by swathes of daffodils, and later wildflower borders.
Meandering along the well-planted terraced paths down to the ponds, you will come across a sandstone troglodyte cave, that once looked out over the River Idle and an old mill.
The occasional well-positioned sculpture and topiary features guide you through to other areas of the garden, with its lawns and herbaceous borders leading through to an old orchard, where in September hundreds of ‘naked ladies’ (colchicum autumnale) appear.
There are many opportunities throughout the garden to just sit and enjoy this special place.
