Court Lodge

Beautifully situated on the River Darenth, beyond the old farmyard and C18 dovecote, are gardens evolved over 4 generations. Mature trees and an elegant lawn lead down to the river. Behind old yew hedges lie a secluded white garden, kitchen garden, a renovated rose walk, and bee loving mixed borders. There is a walled Italian Garden and also a wild bank to meander through.

About Court Lodge

Court Lodge is a medieval fortified manor house built on lands granted to Bishop Odo of Bayeaux. It is the site of Horton Castle – which was once a stone moated manor house with a drawbridge and a moat fed by the River Darenth. Little remains of the medieval building but you can still see an upper doorway, 2 small square windows and stone quoins on the the external south wall.
