Dyffryn Mill

A rural garden which makes the most of its stunning setting. 'Rewilding' on a postage stamp with lake, pond, boggy scrapes and woodland planted in 2019. Hostas, ferns, corydalis, astilbes, epimediums abound and giant water tanks turned into planters to soften old industrial mill building. Wisteria and rambling roses, shrubbery, orchard, 'hot' slate bed. Wander along the river and through woodland.

About Dyffryn Mill

The River Marlais runs through this ½ acre garden which we have spent 25 years creating from scratch, trying to keep things informal and natural.
The lawn melts into the river and adjacent 6-acre re-wilded field which contains a mature one-acre lake. Four-acre steeply sloping woodland planted in 2019.
A new wildlife habitat of boggy scrapes and an enlarged pond near the house were created in 2024.
Specimen trees like liquid amber, weeping copper beech, Himalayan birch and cornus dotted about.
Mown paths (some steep and likely to be boggy) and boardwalks connect the woodland/riverside/lakeside walks that ramble across the 10 acres.
Hosta and fern beds, mature shrubbery and climbers. Pink campion and foxgloves allowed to run riot – very relaxed and informal.
