About Glynwood House

The ¾ acre plot started in 1999 from a blank canvass has been developed in stages with areas designed to accommodate plants in a variety of growing conditions.
Reflecting our love of gardening, we have many borders containing rare and unusual perennials, shrubs, and trees. The differing aspects and growing conditions enjoyed throughout the garden influence the style and planting in each area and range from full sun loving though to deep shade in a secluded woodland section.
The large patio to the rear of the house is surrounded by a pergola supporting roses, clematis, and other aromatic climbers, with raised beds containing drought tolerant plants; at the centre is a kinetic sycamore seed sculpture. There are more metal sculptures displayed throughout the garden and ample seating is available to relax and take advantage of the open vistas.
The garden also features a large wildlife friendly pond with cascade water feature and moisture loving plants. The gently sloping banks allow access for a wide range of birds and other visitors include dragonflies, damsel flies, and frogs. Built over the pond is a pontoon with table and chairs offering spectacular elevated views over fields towards Winter Hill.
Wherever possible the garden includes use of recycled materials, meandering paths in the woodland area include railway sleepers. The raised beds around the patio are created from reclaimed cobbles and the small water feature in this area comprises an antique sink with cast-iron hand water pump, integrated paths comprise a mix of reclaimed York stone and Victorian railway platform tiles.
The garden is designed to take advantage of the mature woodland which surrounds it on two sides where native trees blend with more exotic species in the garden.
There is ample parking near to the property.
