About Gwrythia
Set just 4 miles off the South West coast of Cornwall lies this three acre garden, which was once part of a larger arable farm now slowly emerging after twelve years, into a more diverse haven for wildlife. The garden has many interconnecting areas, walk through natural arches of buddleia and seabuckthorn, through gates, up steps, through to meadows, a large and smaller wildlife pond and an artists studio. Walk through an arch of an established Hornbeam hedge into a large vegetable garden with polytunnel housing a loganberry and grape vine. A small orchard leads to a more private space near the eco house, here is an ornamental garden with a wide variety of herbaceous perennials, tender exotics and annuals, grasses, roses and dahlias later in the season. On one side of the ornamental garden is a Cornish wall, home to succulents, mounds of thrift, clipped santolina and lampranthus. The inspiration for the cultivated areas of the garden is always developing, working with the ever changing weather of West Penwith, where a sense of order emerges from the chaos.
