About Hutton Wandesley Walled Garden
Sasha York has designed the garden taking inspiration from the original Walled Garden designs of 1872.
There are four main areas, the Perennial Meadow garden planted with late summer perennials including Echinacea purpurea, Calamagrostis brachtrichya, Echinacea palliida, Eupatorium maculata, Hebe sutherlandii & Veronicastrum virginum. The Italian garden is made up of 16 small parterres with block planting giving an impactful block planted effect. The Cutting Garden is planted with a collection of David Austin roses and Annuals including a fabulous Dahlia collection. The remaining quadrant has been laid to lawn.
The garden has wide perimeter beds planted with traditional herbaceous English Garden perennials and a stunning Greenhouse is brimming with cuttings and seedlings to replenish the garden. A large central Arbour is smothered in scented climbing roses, clematis, and lonicera. Beautiful brick edged paths lead you on an adventure around the gardens. This garden shows just what can be achieved in a very short time.
