The 2025 group consists of 5 gardens and allotments. The Allotments: Tended by 9 people, growing a variety of vegetables, flowers and fruit. Belham Hayes: Mature cottage garden, mixed herbaceous borders, 2 old fruit trees, vegetables. Emphasis on scent and colour coordination. Manor Farm: 2 acre walled garden Grade II C17 house (not open) with bulbs, wood anemones, fritillaries, mature orchards, pleached limewalk, clipped 130 yr old yew balls, revolving summerhouse. A greenhouse with ancient Black Hamburg vine. Well House: ⅓ acre garden, mature trees, hedges, miniature woodland glade, brook with waterfall. Spring bulbs, rockeries. ⅓ acre garden, 2 old apple trees, old well, herbaceous beds. Rear garden newly planted with perennial borders and bulbs pots of seasonal flowers. Ivy Nook: Medium sized garden, mixed borders with spring bulbs, vegetable garden, greenhouse, small pond and magnolia tree. Quenton House: Vegetable garden with yew hedging. The rear of the property is a mixture of herbaceous borders, shaded areas and wildflower areas.

About Kencot Gardens

The allotments were 1 of the first allotments to open for NGS and have been opening for 17 yrs. 9 people tend the plots growing a range of vegetables, flowers and fruit. Wheelchair access only to just inside of Allotment gate

Belham Hayes:This is a mature cottage garden with mixed herbaceous borders and 2 old fruit trees. Planting scheme with the emphasis on scent and colour coordination. Small vegetable patch to the side of the property

Ivy Nook: the garden continues to be a mass of colour throughout all seasons. Mixed borders with spring bulbs , rockeries and a small pond make for a charming small garden, in the shadow of a magnolia and old apple tree.

Manor Farm: 2 acre walled garden. Grade II listed C17 house (not open). Naturalised bulbs, wood anemones, fritillaria in mature orchards with many varieties of old English apples, pears, quince, and mulberry. Pleached limewalk, clipped 130 yr old yew balls, alliums and box, greenhouse with ancient Black Hamburg vine. Revolving summerhouse. Chickens. A stream runs along the garden boundary

Well House :1/2 acre garden with mature trees and hedges, miniature woodland glade and brook with waterfall. Plentiful bulbs in springtime with island beds and mixed borders providing year-round interest. Semi enclosed patio with dry stone walling, rockeries and bulb containers giving early colour

Quenton House New garden in its third season. Wildflowers and bulbs in woodland on either side of drive. Pleached crab apple and yew hedge frame a large gravel garden at the front of the house which also features an ornamental pond. Vegetable garden with oak sleepers surrounded by hazel and yew hedging. The rear of the property is a mixture of herbaceous borders, shaded areas and wildflower areas. Bantams

  • Wheelchair access to The Allotments, difficult due to step entrance and narrow paths. Other gardens maybe difficult due to gravel and uneven paths.
