About King Henry's Walk Garden
Sustainability is key to this volunteer-run project, with substantial compost bins to recycle all garden waste and butts to collect rainwater. The ornamental planting has been designed to require minimal watering, and contains a high proportion of plants that are particularly attractive to bees and other insects. Hedges provide food and shelter for the large bird population that has grown significantly since the garden was first planted up in 2008. As a hub for the local community, King Henry’s Walk Garden hosts events throughout the year, including popular seasonal shows, regular talks and workshops on gardening-related topics, and educational sessions for schools.
The open afternoon will also feature home-made teas, a plant stall and live music.
