About Knitson Old Farmhouse
Following in her father’s footsteps, Rachel is a passionate follower of permaculture methods and believing in the importance of healthy soil. She replaces nutrients using home made compost, home raised plants and mixing plants together for mutual benefit which results in joyful, exuberant, healthy plants and vegetables; she leaves many corners wild for wild life and is rewarded with large numbers of insects, reptiles, lichens & birds
Rachel is delighted to welcome visitors, discuss all aspects of sustainable gardening, soil health and the benefits of gardening for mental and physical wellbeing.
Plants are selected for drought tolerance and hardiness. 100+ shrubs, both new and some over 100 yrs old. Vegetables year-round sustain a healthy lifestyle. Points of historical interest inc an ancient side-handled quern, Roman padstones, and a C15 farmhouse.
