About Maes Llechau
The garden at Maes Llechau has evolved over the past eight years from barren farmland. With more than 100 trees planted, the garden is starting to take on a mature appearance. The garden plot is built into the hillside and has been developed into ‘rooms’ with different colour schemes and plant selection to encompass the different terrain and capitalise on the borrowed landscape views that can be appreciated from a number of seating areas throughout the garden.
Container planting incorporates zinc planters and farmyard troughs with a number of garden sculptures that provide an ‘animal’ trail for younger visitors. Older visitors can seek out and identify the 20 plus rose varieties that are a particular feature in June.
The evolving eco system has now attracted a wide variety of wild life to the garden with over 30 bird species and many insect, small vertebrates and reptiles. A particular summer attraction are the numerous house martins that nest on the house every year.
