Marigold Cottage

Slide open the Japanese gate to find secret paths, lanterns, a circular window in a curved wall, water lilies in pots and a gravel garden, vegetable garden and propagation area. Take the long drive to see the sea. Back in the garden, find a seat, enjoy the birds and bees. We face the challenges of heavy clay and salt ladened winds but look for unusual plants not the humdrum for these conditions.

About Marigold Cottage

Slide open the lych gate and enter the garden with its beds and raised beds, secret paths, Japanese elements; lanterns, torii arches and gates and Chinese elements; a circular window in a curved wall and water lilies in pots. Then continue to the gravel garden, the vegetable garden and the area for plant propagation and sales. Take the long drive to the sea, a 2 minute walk away and back in the garden, find one of the many seats and relax and enjoy the sound of the birds and the hum of the bees. See what can be done to meet the challenges of a heavy clay soil with strong, salt-ladened winds off the sea at times. The garden has been planted with these conditions in mind but with an emphasis on the unusual rather than the humdrum.
