About Mill Lane Gardens

Mill Lane is an immaculately cared for courtyard garden. Not a space for any more planting!
Mill Lane has been cared for lovingly for over 40 years. Lovely mature gardens to the river where the bank has been environmentally maintained.
Mill Lane is deceptively long back garden, recently re-loved from neglect with most of the planting less than 5 yrs old. Old English Rose border with perennials, a white border in shade and a hot border in full sun. The water lily pond leads to the fruit area then onto an arch with Rambling Rector screening a woodland area. All planting has to survive deer, badger, rabbits and three grandchildren.
Mill Lane is a split level garden, near to where the old Greenfield mill was situated. The planting is cottage style, with a small pond. The banks of the River Flit, which flows through the garden, are left to allow nettles and comfrey to grow for the benefit of wildlife. There are two fruit trees, a small vegetable plot and a second pond on the other side of the river.
Mill Lane is an established, informal garden with exuberant planting, with mixed borders planted for a long season of colour. The bottom of the garden has a an area of no-mow grass for insect life.
