About South View House
Both front and rear spaces have been designed with many low maintenance measures in mind and include many practical and bite-sized ideas that can be recreated in your own garden.
The front garden, approached from a long gravel drive which leads up to the house and is
edged with topiary, includes a topiary knot garden featuring box and yew hedging contrasting with grey slate. The long herbaceous border running the length of the garden is planted in the style of Gertrude Jekyll and features beautiful David Austin roses as well as a range of plants that maintain seasonal floral interest. The woodland garden is tucked under a mature yew tree and contains a mix of seasonal bulbs and other plants.
When you enter through a gate to the rear of the property you are instantly transported to a tropical paradise. You are greeted by a shallow pond which was installed in early 2020 to introduce running water and attract diverse wildlife, is surrounded by lush green planting and beautiful palms.
There is a large, well-kept, a grass path meandering through an arid section with tall Italian Cypresses giving height and a sense of journey.
This also leads to the Georgian style summerhouse which features a hot tub and sauna. The patio area, which backs on to the rear of the house, has ample seating for socialising. An area in which friends can truly relax and escape from the day.
Other areas to explore include the enclosed courtyard garden, the mini fire pit area with peaches, figs, various varieties of apple, gooseberries, pears and more and at the far end of the garden is a chicken coop area as well as a greenhouse.
