About St Wilfrid's Community Garden
This garden, which was funded by the Greater Manchester Environment Fund, is also in memory of one of our dear colleagues.
The space provides an area of relaxation, meeting friends, socialising over a cup of tea and getting involved in the group activities maintaining the garden. From March-August we run workshops in horticulture.
We take pride in cultivating unusual varieties, adopt a ‘More is More’ approach’ which adds a unique character to the planting scheme. The garden includes a small allotment & greenhouse, where a local group learn how to grow vegetables, fostering a spirit of collaboration and education. Originally a place of worship, the church was deconsecrated and carefully restored into a thriving business & community hub, now home to small local businesses & charities. St. Wilfrid’s Community Garden, with its rich history & vibrant planting, offers visitors an inspiring mix of heritage, community & horticulture.
We are situated in the centre of Hulme, in between the Hulme Park and St Wilfrid’s Primary school. The entrance for the garden is on Royce Road.
