About Stable Cottage
Garden is about one third of and acre in total and is subdivided into discrete styles, under a constant state of development as the owners have been working on the garden for 12 years.
The drive is lined with beds containing miscanthus and persicaria. To the rear is a patio with a Japanese courtyard theme, stone lantern and water feature as well as display areas with bonsai: best seen in the spring or autumn.
A trough water feature has been added beside the scented garden with roses and phlox dominating, arches of roses and wisteria under-planted with alliums, campanulas and persicaria; pots of tulips in the spring add colour, with roses in pots for the summer.
There is a small orchard with a mini wildlife meadow, under-planted with bulbs including daffodils, camassias and fritillaries and a shady border with hellebores.
To the front are beds with a coastal theme, including grasses and many plants in pots notably maples and agapanthus, also a lawn area with island beds of mixed planting including cherry trees. A dry stream forms the basis of a Japanese garden. Finally there is a small kitchen garden with raised beds.
