About Station House
The garden is run as a therapeutic garden and was established as a Registered Charity, NurtureNature, in 2018. When planning planting attention is paid to providing sensory stimulation in terms of colour, touch, sound and smell. For example, in the main curated area there is a ‘hot’ bed with vibrant colours designed to stimulate the senses while opposite it is a ‘cool’ bed with white/green planting including well established Hydrangea Annabelle – designed to soothe. Grasses in the garden provide noise and tactile stimulation. Running water from a culvert and a large water feature provide sound stimulation. There are a wide variety of species planted in the garden with a number of plants of particular interest such as specialist woodland plants, various cultivars of snowdrops, pot and border bulb displays in spring, vegetable garden in ‘allotment’ adjacent to garden, lush herbaceous borders. There is terracing within the garden which has extensive stone hard landscaping some of which is uneven and it is important to watch your step on the paths. The bottom half of the garden is naturalistic and includes an area of perennial meadow turf as well as a culvert.
