About Stonewall Park
Relax here at Stonewall Park in this outstanding area of natural beauty. In March, entering through the white gates, thick carpets of self seeded daffodils planted in 19th century welcomes you. They have spread prolifically throughout the woodland grounds and around the house. We have a beautiful and large Magnolia campbellii which should be in flower and can be seen on the left of the drive leading to the house. There are other early flowering magnolias, rhododendrons and azaleas which can be found as you walk along the winding paths which lead to sandstone outcrops, spring fed ponds and two beautiful lakes. At the May opening, our biggest pride are the amount of old and rare rhododendrons, some planted in the mid 19th century and will be at their most colourful for the opening day. There are many interesting trees to pass by on your walks, including the widest girthed Wellingtonia in the UK (confirmed in 2021 by The Tree Register). Bluebells cascade from the drive down towards the big lake ‘Victoria’ and walking amongst the trees and birdsong its a very happy place to be. Once you arrive at the house’s conservatory for tea you can see east to Penshurst and south, towards the Ashdown Forest.
