Dates from 1740 and is situated on the banks of the Alton water reservoir just outside Ipswich.
The house lies within grounds of around 23 acres with about 6 acres making up the gardens.
The main garden areas are: Kitchen garden encompassing large greenhouse cold frames, poly tunnel and nursery area. Lime avenue. Informal and formal ponds. Formal box parterre of herbaceous and rose. Large yew pyramids. ‘secret garden’. Informal rambling rose garden. Large terraced herbaceous garden. Large oak pergola with climbing roses, clematis and vines. Stone and gravel gardens. Orchard and wild-flower meadow. Rose arches and herbaceous. Large collections of lavender, agapanthus and iris. There are also some interesting sculptures.
Please be aware that animals are around – dogs and horses. There is a WC at the back of the gardeners office in the kitchen garden.
