About The Growth Project

The Growth Project is a partnership between Hourglass and Rochdale and District Mind. We have been working on the site with people with mental health issues in the borough of Rochdale for over 14 years, & have developed it from scratch. We are open two days a week, 40 weeks a year for our service users & volunteers providing them with free fruit, vegetables, & flowers throughout the year. All vegetables & flowers are grown from seed annually, so every year is different. We are always enhancing & developing the site building something new each year. On our open day, you will find plenty of guides, made up of people who work here, to give horticultural advice & show you around. Everything on site has been designed, built & grown by the volunteers themselves & is a haven of beauty in a post-industrial landscape. The Growth Project is therefore a must for anyone interested in growing their own, & developing annual wildflower meadows.
