About The Growth Project

The Growth Project is a partnership between the Hourglass and Rochdale and District Mind. We have been working on the site with people with mental health issues in the borough of Rochdale for over 10 years, & have developed it from scratch. We are open two days a week, 40 weeks a year for our service users & volunteers providing them with free fruit, vegetables, & flowers throughout the year. All vegetables & flowers are grown from seed annually, so every year is different. We are always enhancing & developing the site building something new each year. On our open day you will find plenty of guides, made up of people who work here, to give horticultural advice & show you around. Everything on site has been designed, built & grown by the volunteers themselves & is a haven of beauty in a post-industrial landscape. The Growth Project is a therefore a must for anyone who is interested in growing their own, & developing annual wild flower meadows.
