Lying on the edge of Wickham village, near St Nicolas Church, the Old Rectory sits in an attractive setting within about 5 acres of mature gardens. The house was built in c1700, and has had an interesting history, but no longer the Rectory to the neighbouring Church. Detailed notes are available upon arrival. Sweeping driveway and lawns surround the property, pathways curve around the many rose beds, herbaceous borders, shrubberies and mature trees, some of which are specimen trees with more being planned. The garden is on a gentle hillside, overlooking Wickham village and St Nicholas Church. An attractive set of four interconnected ponds give additional interest, planned to provide shelter to much wildlife – birds, insects are plentiful. These ponds are fed by natural springs and two wells. The owner has established an area of about 1 acre for rewilding, bordered by uncut hedges. There are plenty of seating areas scattered around the garden. Live piano music on both opening days.
