West Cliff

Westcliffe gardens were award winners many years ago. Sadly, years of neglect plus the selling of some of the prized front garden resulted in a wild, overgrown tangle of weeds, brambles and ivy over large swathes of the land. The current owners have worked on the garden since 2010 preserving some of the lovely trees and shrubs, making new paths, beds and lawns. To this end they have created a 360 degree garden which encircles the house. The emphasis is very much on appreciating and enjoying the plants, trees and wildlife which provides year-round interest.

About West Cliff

Originally Westcliffe was part of Thurstons Nurseries , whose land was sold in the 1970s to build Southra Park estate. The large award winning front garden was partly sold off in 2005 for housing.

When the current owners took over in 2010 they created a 360 degree garden which now surrounds the 1930’s property. Very much a family home for visiting grandchildren and family dogs.

Westcliffe offers lawns, sitting areas, mature shrubs and trees, formal and informal bedding. The old trees – a 40+ year old flowering Cherry, 2 large Laburnums and some beautifully fragrant Philadelphus give wonderful colour and structure while the acers offer interesting colour and form throughout the year. Recent hard landscaping has included a summerhouse and small swimming pool.

Pergola, pastel garden, sitting areas, patio, summerhouse, swimming pool A half acre family garden which surrounds the 1930s house. Mature trees, shrubs plus formal and informal bedding. Walkways, a variety of different areas, shrubs, annuals and perennial planting.
