Wudston House

The garden was started in 2010, following completion of the house. It consists of formal gardens round the house, perennial meadow, pinetum and arboretum. Nick Macer and James Hitchmough, who have pioneered the concept of perennial meadows, have been extensively involved in aspects of the garden, which is still developing.

About Wudston House

The garden of Wudston House was started in 2010 on completion of the building of the house. Until the early part of the century the site was home to a dairy herd. The overall layout was conceived by the owner, who has subsequently worked with Nick Macer and James Hitchmough, in particular, to develop certain aspects of the garden, which now covers approximately fifteen acres.

The garden takes a while to get into its stride in the early part of the year and is at its best from mid-summer onward, with the perennial meadow and the herbaceous borders peaking from July to early September.

Other parts of the garden include a sunken garden, an arboretum, with an emphasis on wild-sourced material and recent introductions, as well as a pinetum and pool garden.
