About 10 Ufton Grove
Changing from a much loved cottage garden when we extended our house in 2005, making this garden was a bold move. But now we have a seamless join with our new living room and can sit and enjoy the garden night and day, whatever the weather. There is nothing better than to have the illuminations on in torrential rain and watch the fish swimming in the pond… all from our couch. It is easy to maintain, which is important as we get older and spend more time fulfilling our travel dreams.
We have used several mediums including steel, granite and slate, and made use of large mirrors on the walls. There is a large mosaic mural of the Thames and a huge piece of stone with Brazilian fossils that I fell in love with and had shipped over. So it’s a bit quirky!
Our front south facing courtyard was completely reorganised during Covid so we could sit outside in the sun and watch the world walk past. Having painted the door bright pink, we bought lots of planters in similar shades, using plants to complement the colour scheme and added lots of lavender for the bees. We are now known as the house with the pink door!
