About 14c Fieldgate Lane
The garden reflects the style and enthusiasm of the owner, who has lived there since 2003. During that time it has been transformed, but only gradually. One senses a delight in plants, especially herbaceous plants, and also in birds and wildlife with water features and bird feeders.
The entrance is down a narrow, shaded path with dense plantings. We then turn left and enter quietly at the rear of the garden where there is a Summer House and mixed perennials. The first impression is of the dense array of planting. This is a garden of rooms which reveals itself only slowly. There is a circular paved area and nearby an arch leading to the house, with seating area. Next is a densely planted pond with a wooden bridge over it leading to another seating area which catches sun at the end of the day. Japanese maples grow everywhere.
For the plantsman there is much of interest. White variegated agapanthus contrasts with other forms.
A path leads the visitor into a dark and seemingly unpromising area by the rear hedge, but various shrubs seem to enjoy these conditions, including leycesteria formosa, hydrangea and acers.
